ScholarshipsDOCUMENTS:2010 Scholarship Intro Letter and Instruction2010 Scholarship Application 2010 Scholarship FAQs Thank you for choosing a Young Judaea program. We realize how worthwhile a camp or Israel experience can be for your child. We will do our best to help make these opportunities possible for you. Please complete the attached Financial Assistance Application and return it via email to the appropriate Young Judaea Merchav (District) email address (listed on the application) by March 1, 2010. In addition, please mail 2 copies of your completed 2009 IRS 1040 form together with all related W-2 forms, plus any applicable IRS schedules, and the signed acknowledgment form to Young Judaea, att: Scholarships, 50 West 58th Street, New York, New York 10019. Tax forms must also be received by March 1, 2010. You will need to file your taxes early. No applications will be considered without these forms. Please note that if parents are filing separately, copies of both forms must be submitted. All information will be held in strict confidence. Registration must be made directly to the Young Judaea program (e.g. Camp, Israel Program, Tel Yehudah) in which you wish to participate in advance of applying for financial assistance. Applications for scholarship cannot be considered until the appropriate program registration is on file with the minimum deposit required by that program and the applicant’s mother is a current paid up member of Hadassah. Hadassah membership dues ($36 annual or $360 life membership) may be paid online at www.hadassah.org, or directly to the Hadassah region. The Regional Scholarship Committee will meet by March 25th and will consider fully completed applications that were received by the March 1, 2010 deadline. We will notify Regional Camp applicants of the Committee’s decisions by the last week of March. Applicants who are applying for scholarship toward CYJ Sprout Lake and/or Camp Tel Yehudah and all Israel programs will be notified of total awards by April 23. We kindly request that you do not call the national office to make inquiries about decisions as you will be notified in writing as soon as decisions have been made. If you have general questions about the scholarship process you may email us at scholarships@youngjudaea.org and someone will get back to you within 72 hours. Be advised that National Young Judaea offers limited additional financial assistance for Camps Sprout Lake and Tel Yehudah and all Israel programs. If Regional scholarship funds are depleted, or if the Regional award does not fully meet your needs, your application will be forwarded for consideration by the National Young Judaea Scholarship Committee. You do NOT have to complete any additional forms for the National Scholarship Committee. The regional committee will forward these same forms to the National committee. All communication to applicants will either be from the National office or from the Regional Merchav (District) Chair. National scholarship allocation notifications will be sent out by April 23 for CYJ Sprout Lake, Camp Tel Yehudah and all Israel Programs. Written confirmation of both Regional and/or National awards will be sent directly to the applicants. We want you to be aware that Young Judaea scholarship funds are available primarily due to the great generosity of Hadassah and its members. These funds are limited and each year requests for financial assistance have increased, and have exceeded the available funds. We ask that you pursue other sources of financial assistance prior to applying for financial aid from Hadassah. Please check with your synagogue, Federation, Bureau of Jewish Education,, J.C.C., or other community agency. For your convenience, we have enclosed a list of potential sources in your community. The results of those requests should be indicated on your application form and updated as necessary.
